Arno Fischer's documentary-style photographs of both East and West Berlin offer a timeless glimpse into the challenges and resilience of the city's inhabitants during this period. New York. 1984. 6 vintage ferrotyped gelatin silver prints. Each circa 30 x 19,5 cm. Number in pencil on verso.

Whether in New York, Moscow or Leningrad or India, Arno Fischer got close to people and gave them a stage, so to speak. He never sought the exotic when traveling, but rather recorded moods. With his portraits he placed inconspicuous people at the center of his lens. The results are often tender images, in a wonderful composition of light and shadow. – Stronger traces of use, edges curled, stains/soiling, especially in margins, creases in corners, a few with stronger vertical crease in right edge.
